Welcome to 2019, which will be a great year for wine lovers in Richmond, Twickenham and Teddington! The tastings for Richmond and Teddington Wine Societies have been scheduled on the website, do take a look, and save the dates, and you can book your place now for our January tastings, where we focus on Tuscany with a Twist.

During the year we will be exploring wines from around the world – including a surprising focus on the wines of Gallo in February (prepare yourself to be astounded), and a return to Austria and Hungary for Richmond (last explored in 2014!). This will be the first ever tasting of wines from these wonderful wine countries for Teddington!

Plus of course our regular tastings of the best of Medal Winners in early October, and kicking off the festive season (if you can bear to think about that just now) with our Christmas Extravaganza.

Our Fine Wine Tastings and Dinners offer a chance to explore a particular region in greater detail, with a focus on rarer high quality wines and older vintages, accompanied by a gastronomic meal prepared by Bacco, Le Salon Privé – or me! This year we are exploring Sherry and Madeira, taking a tour of Italy, delving into the fabulous wines of Bordeaux’s Left Bank and getting stuck into the New World – plus of course enjoying our Summer and Christmas Masterclass dinners.
Now in its fourth year, my Cheese Course is a great way to start the year.  This year I am planning to expand my reach within and beyond Europe, and to explore the complexities of ageing (of cheese not me).  Over four nights and two catch-up weekend sessions we will specifically look for cheeses that go well with particular wine styles, for example on January 28th we will be focussing on aromatic white wines, light red wines and mature white wines.
Both Richmond and Teddington Wine Societies are thriving, and in 2018 we had a sell-out response to many of the fine wine events. I am very lucky to be able to share my passion for wine (and cheese, and most other food!) with such enthusiastic wine lovers, and look forward to enjoying tasting wine with you over the coming year.
Finally, a quick update on my 2019 tours – virtually all of them are sold out, but there might be room to squeeze one or two people onto some of them.  There is a bit more availability on the Friuli-Venezia Guilia tour in June, and the Western Australia tour in November, but please get in touch as soon as possible if you have not yet made a booking for 2019.
If you do not receive mailings for any of my events or my tours use the sign up link to create or amend your preferences.
With very best wishes.

“Throughout the 17 years I have attended Tim’s wine tasting events, he has continued to deliver his extensive knowledge of wine and wine-making with great charm, and lots of humour, making the evenings not only informative, but also great fun. In the course of an average year, the tastings cover a kaleidoscope of different wine themes – interesting and entertaining for all, novices and experts alike. And the wines taste pretty good too!”

“We have been going to Teddington Wine Society events for a number of years. Tim runs the evenings with bonhomie and humour and wears his considerable knowledge lightly. The evenings are great fun, the wines are always a little bit different and help to expand knowledge and tasting horizons.”

“I have attended the Richmond Wine society for over ten years and always enjoyed Tim’s self-effacing style and gentle humour. His knowledge is globally eclectic and presented in a clear, interesting and always stimulating way. Every guest I have taken there has enjoyed the evening immensely. Tim also offers a wide range of wines to buy and my red cellar has provided great pleasure to my own dinner guests.”

“I’ve been enjoying Tim’s tastings for over 20 years – he is a great teacher, raconteur and wine expert. He is seriously passionate about his wine, but there is nothing serious about his tastings, which are always informal and relaxed. A lovely way to spend an evening and enjoy some fantastic wines.”
