What I do
In addition to selling wine, I have been educating and entertaining people about wine for over 25 years.
I am delighted that Richmond Wine Society and Teddington Wine Society have continued to run in person and virtually as soon as we worked out how to do it, and the very first Surbiton Wine Society took place in October. I work closely with all of the venues I use, and ensure we adhere to all group size, social distancing and hygiene requirements. While lockdown restrictions pertain, we will still enjoy our fabulous wines by Zoom. I deliver the tasting wines, in 5cl portions (the exact tasting quantity I pour in each glass at every event) and all you need is a couple of wine glasses to enjoy a fabulous lineup of wines.
My online tastings, where you can order wine and follow me conducting an informal tasting (with cheese and food pairing suggestions) via my YouTube channel will continue.
All my tastings suit people of all ages and knowledge levels, from experienced tasters to complete beginners, who enjoy an informative and entertaining evening of wine with food.
I also run fine wine Masterclasses which are wonderful opportunities to taste older vintages, to compare vintages, and to match wines with different foods. My occasional wine tasting courses explore wine appreciation and food and wine pairing – including my very popular Cheese Course!
Every year (in normal circumstances) I take people on wine tours – since 2001 I have escorted over 100 groups of people to over 25 different wine regions, and I was immensely proud to be awarded the 2019 Wanderlust World Guide Awards Specialist Tour Guide of the Year. Take a look at my website: timsyradwinetours.com.
My corporate wine tasting events company is called Taste of the Grape – ideal to celebrate achievements, round off conferences, or to help with team building. Participants can relax and enjoy delicious wines, great entertainment, and a bit of competitive fun. Click here to find out more.
“Throughout the 17 years I have attended Tim’s wine tasting events, he has continued to deliver his extensive knowledge of wine and wine-making with great charm, and lots of humour, making the evenings not only informative, but also great fun. In the course of an average year, the tastings cover a kaleidoscope of different wine themes – interesting and entertaining for all, novices and experts alike. And the wines taste pretty good too!”
– Roger Heron – Richmond
We have been going to Teddington Wine Society events for a number of years. Tim runs the evenings with bonhomie and humour and wears his considerable knowledge lightly. The evenings are great fun, the wines are always a little bit different and help to expand knowledge and tasting horizons.”
– Fred Squire – Teddington
“I have attended the Richmond Wine society for over ten years and always enjoyed Tim’s self-effacing style and gentle humour. His knowledge is globally eclectic and presented in a clear, interesting and always stimulating way. Every guest I have taken there has enjoyed the evening immensely. Tim also offers a wide range of wines to buy and my red cellar has provided great pleasure to my own dinner guests.”
– Stephanie Campbell, Richmond
“I’ve been enjoying Tim’s tastings for over 20 years – he is a great teacher, raconteur and wine expert. He is seriously passionate about his wine, but there is nothing serious about his tastings, which are always informal and relaxed. A lovely way to spend an evening and enjoy some fantastic wines.”
– Bernard Norman, Kew
