The first of this year’s medal winning tastings took place at Teddington last night. This is a much anticipted event as we reveal some of the best wines judged at this year’s wine competitions. As always our focus was on gold medal and trophy winning wines, and this year’s results have delivered an exceptional range of wines from all over the world.
Tasmania came to the fore with some mind blowing Pinot Noir and truly exceptional late disgorged sparkling, backed up by some impressive showings from more traditional wine regions: characterful and aromatic Pinot Grigio, beautifully elegant Chardonnay without the bonkers price tag from Burgundy and some quite magical Sauternes at price that surprised many. All wines available in the shop.
Every year I feel the judging at these competitions reaches a higher standard and it is now extremely rare to be disappointed by any of the top award winners. Looking forward to showing the medal winners tasting at Richmond next week.
