Valentino Sciotti (of Vesevo, Gran Sasso and other Farnese estates) took over this small co-operative in Basilicata in Acerenza in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture zone in 2008. Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini works with the talented Danilo Gizzi to capture the character of the grapes, and area, in the finished wine.
This DOC wine is a brilliant expression of the Aglianico grape variety, which needs a long ripening season to ensure its tannins soften. Gentle winemaking and restrained oak influence have created a lovely wine. Aromas and flavours of roses, red plums and blackberries, beautiful acidity balances a medium body and elegant tannins – at a bargain price!
