Outer Limits by Montes Zapallar Pinot Noir 2020
Montes was established in 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, with the aim of producing the best wines in Chile from the best regions. The cool climate Casablanca Valley is the source of the fruit for this excellent Pinot Noir. Due to the balance and concentration in the Outer Limits wines, they can be enjoyed now or allowed to age for a few years, rewarding with a wonderfully complex bouquet.
This wine is bright ruby red in colour. It has a very aromatic nose with pronounced notes of raspberries and blueberries combined with subtle notes of hazelnuts, caramel, toffee and mild toast. The palate is smooth with round tannins, alongside a fresh fruit character. Vibrant acidity gives the wine a bright and perfumed finish.
This is fantastic with coq-au-vin, pan-seared venison with rosemary and dried cherries or provencal lamb with Mediterranean vegetables. Ossau Oraty is my cheese of choice.
