Viognier Baron de Badassière 2023
£12.00
Viognier is not a common grape variety but it has become increasingly popular – a good value wine that tastes of something interesting, unlike than the oceans of cheap Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. With an easy floral stonefruit nose, and a fabulous balance on the palate of ripe fruit, elegant acidity and long finish, this is one of my biggest sellers.
It can be quaffed on its own, but is very versatile with food – particularly good with Oriental cuisine and soft cheeses like Brie.
The Baron de Badassière range comes from the Picpoul region of the Languedoc. It’s a really top class range of wine made by Kiwi winemaker Graeme Paul, at the Cave de Pomérols co-op.
