Verdicchio Classico Superiore Villa Bucci 2021
£21.50
Verdicchio goes by a number of synonyms, including Trebbiano di Soave. In the Marche region, on the Adriatic coast of Italy, it produces vibrant, aromatic wines, and this is a super example of the highest level of quality – Castelli di Jesi is a Classico sub-region, on the foothills of the Appenines. Ampelio Bucci makes this wine from grapes from his older vineyards, the lower yields ensuring great concentration and complexity.
Citrus and apple fruit with a mineral edge contrasts nicely with notes of almonds, vanilla and wildflower honey.
We enjoyed this recently with a risotto, its fresh acidity will cut through creamy dishes and actually it is lovely to drink as an aperitif. A fresh curd cheese like mozzarella, or a semi-soft Chaorce would be super.
Also available in half bottle.
