Verdejo Flor de Vetus Rueda 2023
£15.00
Pale yellow in colour, on the nose it has rich aromas of citrus, peach and grapefruit zest. On the palate delightful tropical notes with ripe citrus fruit, and a tangy finish.
This would be the perfect wine with my favourite tapas, tortilla (Spanish omelette), and is great with Garrotxa, a Spanish goat’s cheese. Pretty much any fish will enjoy its company.
Verdejo has staged a fantastic renaissance since the Marqués de Riscal invested in Rueda in the 1970s. This wine is made by Laló Anton of Viña Izadi in Rioja, and has been absolutely flying out of the door. We visited Rueda on tours in 2018 and 2019, but sadly not this estate.
