Syrah Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay 2020
£18.50
We visited Trinity Hill during our 2014 tours to New Zealand, and met winemaker Warren Gibson, who has been with Trinity Hill since 1997. A pioneer of the famed Gimblett Gravels – free draining soils too infertile to support economic sheep raising, that were rescued in the 1980s from a cement factory by some determined wine growers.
This Syrah has intense aromas of wild raspberries, blackberry, liquorice and hints of pepper, which combine to produce a complex, fruit-dominant wine. The wine is deliberately released at a very youthful age to maximise the beautiful perfume and fruit freshness.
This wine can be enjoyed on its own or partnered with a wide range of foods, particularly red meat dishes, game, or pasta.
