Intense aromas of red fruit, liquorice and spice, with delicate hints of cedar and smoke. The palate is rich and concentrated, with ripe spicy earthy fruit.
Great with a mouthful of morcilla (the local black pudding) or a leg of roast lamb, and some mature Manchego.
We had the pleasure of visiting Viña Izadi on our Rioja tour in 2005, and succumbed to a fabulous lunch. Owner Lalo Antón oversees a high quality operation, that covers Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Toro.
