Ribera del Duero Una Cepa 2015
Valduero is one of my top favourite estates, renowned for their legendary hospitality, amazing cellar dug into the hillside and an astonishing modern art museum based wooden barrel creations from up and coming artists.
The Unacepa is sourced from 50-year-old vines in a very specific part of the Valduero estate. Aged for 18 months in barrique and a further 12 months at the bodega, it has aromas of leather, toasted vanilla and ripe fruit. On the mouth, it is structured and balanced with great complexity and weight. Traditional roast lamb would be the perfect choice. The smoked Idiazabal ewe’s milk cheese would be a good match.
We have visited Valduero on tour on many occasions – I have taken tours to Ribera del Duero several times, and we keep coming back to this fantastic region, where the Tempranillo grape finds the perfect conditions to express its power and elegance.
