Ribera del Duero Albillo 2019
Valduero is one of my top favourite estates, renowned for their legendary hospitality, amazing cellar dug into the hillside and an astonishing modern art museum based wooden barrel creations from up and coming artists.
The Albillo grape is quite rare and only grown by a few producers in Ribera del Duero. Cool fermented in stainless steel, the wine oozes fresh pineapple and grapefruit aromas and the palate is medium bodied with an abundance
of ripe tropical fruit. Fabulous fish wine – seabass cooked with a citrussy sauce would be ideal. It has enough weight to partner a young washed rind Puzzone di Moena.
We have visited Valduero on tour on many occasions – I have taken tours to Ribera del Duero several times, and we keep coming back to this fantastic region, where the Tempranillo grape finds the perfect conditions to express its power and elegance.
