Prosecco Romeo Non Vintage
£12.50
The Cantina Sociale dei Colli Vicentini was founded in 1955 by 33 keen vine-growers coming from Montecchio Maggiore in the heart of Veneto renowned for its ancient qualified vine-growing tradition. Their Romeo Prosecco has an attractive aroma of ripe apples, lemon and grapefruit, and a lovely mousse. On the palate it has an appealing, fresh acidity and delicately fruity flavour.
This is by far the most popular wine I supply to any big event, and plenty of birthdays in Teddington, Richmond and Twickenham have been toasted with it.
There are plenty of other Proseccos out there that are cheaper, but I know that if you taste this one you won’t want to compromise. It will happily accompany canapés, a Delices de Bourgogne cheese, or slip down nicely by itself.
Fun fact: until recently the grape variety Prosecco is made from was renamed from ‘Prosecco’ to ‘Glera’. This has enabled the Prosecco name to be used only for wines made in the DOC area in Veneto and Friuli-Giulia Venezia (and nowhere else).
