Pinot Noir Wild Earth 2021

The owner of Wild Earth Quintin Quider used to be a deep sea diver and despite his career ruining his sense of smell, makes a superb Pinot Noir. We enjoyed meeting him, and a sensational tasting lunch cooked in wine barrels during our 2014 tours to New Zealand.
Central Otago is producing some of the best Pinot Noir in the world and this is no exception. It has medium depth of colour, spicy earthy forest fruits on the nose and a rich, gamey mouthful of fruit on the palate, with fantastic structure – a wine that will evolve beautifully over the next few years.
I included the 2017 vintage in our online tasting of New Zealand wines, and there is video evidence of me comparing it blind with the Ata Rangi Pinot Noir from Martinborough!
A perfect match for washed rind cheeses or a duck confit.
