Pinot Grigio Gasper 2022

The Gasper label is a joint venture between the Brda local cooperative and the Carman family. Many winemakers have vineyards in both Goriska Brda and Collio. Proximity to both the Adriatic Sea and the Alps provide dry, warm summers with cooling breezes – allowing grapes to ripen slowly.
I ran tours to Slovenia in 2017 and 2018 and we visited this beautifully picturesque region to the far west of Ljubljana, right on the border with Italy.
This is a great example of a flavoursome Pinot Grigio. It’s straw yellow in colour with a subtle shade of pink. Pear, grapefruit, even pineapple aromas and flavours, with rich flavour and a long silky finish.
It is perfect with Cabri – a full flavoured goat’s cheese from Teddington Cheese, and I love it with red mullet.
