Picpoul de Pinet Baron de Badassière 2019
£10.00
Crisp, clean and fresh with grapefruit, lemon and lime on the nose, a medium body with lovely zesty, lemonny fruit. Just a hint of salinity on the finish – it’s grown near the Med. I like to say Picpoul performs best when it can see the sea, but as someone said at one of my tastings, don’t we all? This is a hugely popular wine with my clients, it’s a refreshing alternative to Sauvignon Blanc and fantastic value.
Perfect with moules, oysters, a platter de fruits de mer if you have one to hand. Best cheese match is a young fresh goat’s cheese like Caciotta from Italy.
The Baron de Badassière range comes from the Picpoul region of the Languedoc. It’s a really top class range of wine made by Kiwi winemaker Graeme Paul, at the Cave de Pomérols co-op
