Sauvignon Blanc Leyda Valley Montes 2023
£13.00
Montes was established in 1988 by Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, with the aim of producing the best wines in Chile from the best regions. The Limited Selection wines are classic examples of matching the variety or blend to an area. The grape growers and winemakers are given carte blanche to take outstanding fruit and come up with some wholly individual wines that are perfect expressions of site.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from selected vineyards in the Leyda Valley, a subregion of San Antonio Valley. Vineyards in Leyda are located just seven kilometres from the coast and therefore the wines are highly aromatic with racy acidity and minerality.
The wine is pale yellow in colour with green hues. On the nose, there are fresh aromas of citrus and tropical fruits such as lemon, passion fruit, pineapple and mango. The palate is fresh and fruity with vibrant acidity.
The acidity in this wine would be a marvellous foil for grilled fish, especially oily fish such as sardines and mackerel. Goats cheese and Sauvignon are considered by many to be a match made in heaven.
