Grenache Rosé Willunga 100 McLaren Vale 2022

This foody wine may be pink in colour, but its intense aromas of strawberries, cherries and rose petal, are followed by a savoury, food oriented palate, with lovely tannins and crisp acidity.  The combination of fruitiness and savoury notes make it perfect for light curries, and if the weather is good it’s the perfect versatile BBQ wine.  My daughter’s favourite favourite cheese is the ideal choice: Rachel (a Somerset goat’s cheese from the Teddington Cheese).

Willunga 100 is in McLaren Vale, a region we visited during our Australian tours in 2019. The grapes come from a range of selected vineyards in McLaren Vale, including some over 80 years old.  The term “hundred” originates from late Saxon and Norman England and refers to an administrative unit of government, meaning that 100+ households had to live in the area to qualify for its place on the map.
