Grenache Blend Rosé Mas La Chevalière 2020
This blend of nearly two thirds Grenache and one third Syrah has10% Cinsault, a grape variety that rarely appears with sole billing but always brings fresh, perfumed fruit to a blend.
Have this in the fridge ready for a warm evening – ripe redcurrant and strawberry aromas on the nose and delicate fruitiness on the palate, combine with lively acidity and a juicy, refreshing finish. Super with a simple veggie pasta supper – how about home made asparagus and ricotta ravioli (I get that occasionally when Fliss and Hannah get the pasta machine out). If the pasta machine is not making an outing a Chevre Premier de Moulis (delicate goat’s cheese from the Pyrenees) would be perfect.
Mas La Chevalière was established near Béziers in 1995 by Michel Laroche of Chablis fame, after 10 years of searching for the right vineyards. The 40 hectares comprise high altitude, cooler sites for whites and hillside terraces for reds. The wines are classified Indication Géographique Protégée because irrigation is used to avoid heat stress (and hard, bitter characters in the wines) in the southerly, sunny climate.
