Chianti Classico ‘Terre di Cresci’ Poggiotondo 2021
£25.00
The Poggiotondo estate in Western Tuscany is part of the empire of Alberto Antonini, the renowned winemaker who has associations with many famous names around the world. This estate is organic, and the Chianti Classico ‘Terre di Cresci’ is a good example of a good Chianti Classico – cherries, spices and great structure.
Chianti Classico has just got better and better in recent years, no more wicker bottles with tired astringent wines inside. New clones, new vineyard practices and seriously good winemaking has ensured these wines can compete with top reds from around the world. 90% of the grapes in this wine are Sangiovese, with local varieties Canaiolo Nero and Colorino ensuring the wine is rounded and approachable.
A very versatile wine with food so keep some in your handy rack for pizza night and Sunday lunch. A hunk of cheddar will finish the bottle off nicely.
