Cabernet Franc Gasper 2021

The Gasper label is a joint venture between the Brda local cooperative and the Carman family. Many winemakers have vineyards in both Goriska Brda and Collio. Proximity to both the Adriatic Sea and the Alps provide dry, warm summers with cooling breezes – allowing grapes to ripen slowly.
I ran tours to Slovenia in 2017 and 2018 and we visited this beautifully picturesque region to the far west of Ljubljana, right on the border with Italy.
This Cabernet Franc is a deep ruby color with an aromatic nose of red and dark fruit and notes of capsicum and black pepper. The wine has a smooth, fruit driven palate with lovely, supple tannins and great structure, with a long finish.
This pairs wonderfully with meat dishes, especially steak and roasted lamb – a perfect choice for wine enthusiasts who appreciate strong and rich flavours.
