Bianco A Mano 2022
£14.00
Lovely aromas and flavours of white peaches, ripe pears, nectarines and a touch of jasmine. Its racy acidity lifts the ripe fruit, making it a perfect wine for salads and particularly Asparagus! A creamy Mozarella di Buffola would make a super pairing. It is also just a lovely quaffing wine
This is a blend of 70% Fiano Minutolo and 30% Greco, varieties we are going to hear a lot more about in coming years, particularly as New World producers seek vines that can survive in every drier conditions. A small portion of the Fiano grapes were dried until the end of October, after which they were pressed and the juice was blended into the wine at the very end of fermentation. This careful and attentive wine making makes the wine a bargain!
On our tours to Puglia in 2016 we met Mark Shannon at a beautiful Masseria, a typical farmhouse restaurant. Mark is a Californian who set up A Mano wines with his Italian partner Elvezia back in 1998 and they very quickly established a reputation for making brilliant wines from local indigenous grapes.
With Mark we enjoyed a massive buffet lunch stuffed artichokes, courgettes in many forms, bread salad, aubergine creations and a host of delicious dishes that were totally new experiences for everyone. It showed Puglian cuisine in a truly glorious shining light of creativity and flavour.
