Bodegas Garzon is a very exciting winery situated in Maldondado on the Atlantic coast in Southern Uruguay. They have established themselves as the standard bearer of premium wines in Uruguay and regularly win trophies and medals at International competitions.
Albarino is not necessarily a grape you would expect to find here, but the proximity to the ocean makes for ideal growing conditions and Garzon have had great success with it.
Straw gold in colour, this Albariño shows great complexity with layers of tropical fruit and floral undertones. It has a beautiful textural quality and richness on the palate which is complemented with vibrant acidity and a refreshing finish.
A friend to all things from the sea, this wine pairs exceptionally well with white fish and meats – as well as grilled/fried fish and meat, this must be tried with seafood risotto and fish tacos. Soft cheeses like burrata, or semi-hard cheeses such as manchego, gouda and salty feta will be great pairings.
