Classic Spanish wine tasting is online

by | Aug 11, 2020 | Online tastings

The video of my tastings of Classic Spanish Wines is now on YouTube.

I really hope you enjoy following the tasting, and my cheese pairing and recipe suggestions (see below).

Our Classic Spanish Wine Tasting

All wines are available in full and half bottle – you can still order the wines from the website and enjoy them with my video at any time.

Verdejo 2019 Pasos de la Capsula (Rueda)
Rioja Blanco 2018 El Coto
Garnacha Blanca 2019 Herencia (Cataluña)
Rioja Rosado 2018 El Coto
Rioja Crianza 2016 El Coto
Rioja Reserva 2015 Viña Izadi

Ribera del Duero Crianza 2016 Valduero
Ribera del Duero Reserva 2012 Valduero
(Valduero wines are tasted together)

And here’s the video:

It lasts just under 40 minutes, but you can stop and start it as you wish, and of course watch it over a few days. You can download the tasting sheet here.

For helpful tips on how to manage your tasting, equipment you might need, and how to store unfinished wine, please download our guide to running a tasting at home.

This has been a wonderful opportunity to explore the rich diversity of Spanish wines and I hope it encourages you to experiment with the plethora of indigenous grape varieties that Spain is very proud of.

The Credits…

As with previous video tastings this is a family affair.  My wife Fliss (still studying for the WSET Diploma) has produced a booklet about the key wines of Spain – download here.  And not only has Julia, our daughter, produced the video from both behind the camera and in the editing suite; with her sister Hannah she has baked us a cake to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary – today!

What next?

If you would like to taste the wines in the video do get in touch, I still have some stock. You can order directly from the shop.

Thank you for watching, any feedback is very welcome.  And please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to order any of the wines featured in the tasting.

“Throughout the 17 years I have attended Tim’s wine tasting events, he has continued to deliver his extensive knowledge of wine and wine-making with great charm, and lots of humour, making the evenings not only informative, but also great fun. In the course of an average year, the tastings cover a kaleidoscope of different wine themes – interesting and entertaining for all, novices and experts alike. And the wines taste pretty good too!”

“We have been going to Teddington Wine Society events for a number of years. Tim runs the evenings with bonhomie and humour and wears his considerable knowledge lightly. The evenings are great fun, the wines are always a little bit different and help to expand knowledge and tasting horizons.”

“I have attended the Richmond Wine society for over ten years and always enjoyed Tim’s self-effacing style and gentle humour. His knowledge is globally eclectic and presented in a clear, interesting and always stimulating way. Every guest I have taken there has enjoyed the evening immensely. Tim also offers a wide range of wines to buy and my red cellar has provided great pleasure to my own dinner guests.”

“I’ve been enjoying Tim’s tastings for over 20 years – he is a great teacher, raconteur and wine expert. He is seriously passionate about his wine, but there is nothing serious about his tastings, which are always informal and relaxed. A lovely way to spend an evening and enjoy some fantastic wines.”
