Fine Wine Tasting with Dinner – Sherry and Madeira @ Le Salon Privé
Feb 13 @ 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm
Fine Wine Tasting with Dinner - Sherry and Madeira @ Le Salon Privé | Twickenham | United Kingdom
Our first fine wine dinner of the year takes place at Le Salon Privé in St Margarets and our subject is Sherry and Madeira.
Both regions are of course famed for their fortified wines, which are mostly drunk as aperitifs and post prandial stickies.  But this barely scratches at the surface of their amazing diversity and complexity.
At this tasting dinner, with the help of Le Salon Privé, we will explore the full range of styles, and set ourselves the challenge to match every course of our meal with a Sherry, a Madeira, or perhaps both!
Fine wine tasting dinners are an opportunity to try more expensive wines than at our regular tastings at Richmond and Teddington, and Le Salon Privé always produces a fabulous meal.

Tim Syrad has 25 years experience of running wine tastings, and also runs the monthly Richmond and Teddington Wine Societies.  He is a fervent advocate that wine is to be enjoyed without snobbery. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced taster, there will be plenty to learn and enjoy.

Richmond Wine Society annual Blind Wine Tasting challenge @ The Britannia Pub

Every year we dust off our tasting technique, and put our noses and palates through their paces on an eclectic selection of wines – the lucky winner will be crowned ‘Blind Wine Tasting Champion of 2018’. As regulars know, absolutely no knowledge is required to do well!

This event has become a stalwart of the calendar and serves to remind everyone that wine is about enjoyment first and foremost. A completely level playing field is created by tasting blind and with the subtle use of multiple choice questions, red herring commentary from Tim and a few easy to guess wines means anyone can be the winner!

We look forward to seeing you there.

The results of the major wine competitions are announced, and we will take the chance to investigate whether the medals and awards are deserved.  The International Wine Challenge, the Decanter World Wine Awards, Sommelier Wine Awards, The Wine Merchants Top 100 wines – all judged by panels of experts tasting wines blind.  Medals and Trophies are awarded for wines that express the best characteristics of their type – whether region, style or price point.

This is always a terrific tasting as we mainly focus on Gold and Trophy winners – reflecting the very best wines judged this year.
