Viognier La Forge 2018
This wine has intense, concentrated aromas of peach and apricot, with hints of pineapple and mango. On the palate it is rich and full bodied, with intense stone fruit flavours and just a hint of vanilla from some time in oak.
Viognier is not a common grape variety but it has become increasingly popular – a good value wine that tastes of something interesting, unlike than the oceans of cheap Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.
This would be perfect with a delicate blue cheese, such as Bleu d’Auvergne. Viognier goes particularly well with Oriental food and I like this wine with a pork fillet with a creamy sauce.
