Vintage Champagne Boutillez Guer 2011
This vintage is rich and textured, with a deligthful yeasty brioche nose, and delivers a fulfilling mouthful of baked apple and citrus. The finish is long and persistent.
My all time favourite cheese match for Champagne is Petit Langres, and what else would one have but smoked salmon? Well actually plenty of things – a blue stilton, some taramsalata, a bit of pàté – the list is endless.
Marc Boutillez is an excellent small grower situated in the village of Villers-Marmery, and I have been dealing with his champagnes since 1999. We drank his wines at our wedding.
