Tim’s Summer Selection Case (12 bottles)
The warmer weather that Summer brings means a shift towards lighter, crisper wines: some great fizz to help celebrate a special event…or just for sheer indulgence; light, crisp whites for those lovely Summer days and evenings; elegant roses to accompany picnics and light reds to drink with lighter meats or to sip in the garden as the sun sets…
This 12 bottle case will embellish all that Summer has to offer.
2 x Tradition Champagne Boutillez Guer NV
A blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir this is a delicious Premier Cru Champagne…at an amazing price! It has a soft, creamy texture and great overall balance.
I’ve been lucky enough to taste a myriad of champagnes over the years (it’s a tough job I know, but someone has to do it!), and this remains my favourite. An aperitif style champagne, this is great fizz for celebrations…or just pure enjoyment!
2 x Soave Classico Terre di Monteforte 2021
Crisp, floral and fresh on the nose followed by a dry, textured apple-ey fruit palate. This wine has been fantastically well received at both Richmond and Teddington wine societies.
A light, crisp white which drinks beautifully on warm days and evenings. A little hint of oiliness gives it some extra weight, so it would go really well with pasta dishes, and it’s perfect with semi-soft cheeses like Teddington Cheese’s Dolce di Maremma or mild goat’s cheeses.
2 x Sauvignon Blanc Leyda Valley Montes 2021
This wine is pale yellow in colour with green hues. On the nose, there are fresh aromas of citrus and tropical fruits such as lemon, passion fruit, pineapple and mango. The palate is fresh and fruity with vibrant acidity.
The acidity in this wine would be a marvellous foil for grilled fish, especially oily fish such as sardines and mackerel. Goats cheese and Sauvignon are considered by many to be a match made in heaven.
At this time of year, I like to grill some fish on the BBQ and pour a glass (or two!) of this as an accompaniment…bliss!
2 x Rosé Château Beaulieu ‘Cuvée Alexandre’ 2021
Just perceptibly pink with the most delicate of aromas and yet a beautifully fresh weight of strawberry and raspberry fruit in the mouth.
An elegant rose which always finds its way into my picnic hamper. It is also just beautiful as a refreshing glass of wine on a hot Summer’s day.
This was a highlight of my 2018 Provence Wine Tour.
2 x Pinot Noir Reserva Altitudes, Central Valley 2020
Lightly coloured, this is a soft and approachable Pinot Noir. With an earthy aroma of berry fruit, the palate is refreshingly spicy and fruity, with cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavours. It has a nice, balanced acidity and a long finish.
A versatile wine, this is ideal with a chicken or butter bean casserole, lighter BBQ’d meats or a piece of Morbier cheese.
2 x Fleurie Vielles Vignes Dominique Gry-Sablon 2020
Medium red in colour, with aromas of fresh strawberries and tart cherries. On the palate, it delivers berry fruit, lightly toasted hazelnut and vanilla and soft rounded tannins. Easy drinking with great structure makes this a very versatile wine.
This is perfect with charcuterie, a duck confit or lighter BBQ’d meats. Cheese-wise, this is heavenly with Saint Marcellin, a mild slightly salty nutty cow’s cheese.
Also available as a case of 6 bottles.
