Sauvignon Blanc Kim Crawford (37.5cl) 2021
£8.00
During our 2014 tours to New Zealand, we enjoyed a wonderful journey around the Kim Crawford vineyards. From Marlborough’s main wine growing area, the Wairau Valley, over to the Awatere Valley, across to Grasmere lake, Blind River and finishing up for a tasting at their Drylands Wine Centre. This journey gave us a really insightful look at the influences of the different valleys on grape style and taste, a history of the local geology as well as a tour of some of the Marlborough vineyards that I doubt get many visitors.
This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon – tropical fruit aromas and flavours of passionfruit, melon and mango, citrus notes and crushed herbs. The good acidity is balanced with great motuhfeel, and a lovely persistent finish.
It’s a bit of a cliché, but this is the classic wine to have with a simple fish dish – trout, sea bass, bream all come to mind. And a Ticklemore goat’s cheese from Devon.
