Prosecco Superiore Ca Morlin DOCG Asolo Non Vintage

Prosecco should be delicate, frothy and fun.   Most stops there.  This wine goes much further.  While most of the Glera grapes that make Prosecco are grown on the huge flat Venetian plains, in a couple of tiny areas the DOCG (the highest denomination in Italy) they are grown, on steep and exquisitely beautiful hillsides.  

This wine, from the Asolo DOCG demonstrates what great Prosecco tastes like: intensely floral on the nose, a clean fresh palate with a real depth of flavour – grapey, hints of blossom, and a intensity that lasts through the long finish.  It is for sipping, not glugging, though I am very happy to sell it in glugging quantities!

I kicked off our recent Northern Italian wine video tasting with this super wine, and tasting it in the garden I was reminded of the perfect match – Parmigiana Reggiana – good quality Parmesan cheese.  But it would be lovely with canapés, soft cheeses and is of course fabulous by itself.
