Pedro Ximinez ‘Legacy of Australia XXX0’ Dandelion Vineyards (37.5cl)

Pedro Ximinez is a grape variety from Andalucia, and is used there to make gorgeously sweet sherry.  It has settled down very well in Australia – the vines for this rare XO Pedro Ximenez have an average age of 30 years, and the Linder family has being growing PX and producing these luscious fortified wines since 1944.

It has a gorgeous nose of crème brulée, citrus peel and maple syrup, and on the palate it cries out for intensely rich puddings – creme brulee, or something made from dark chocolate.  I wouldn’t really advise it with cheese.

Dandelion Vineyards has established itself as being innovative and dynamic, producing a top class range delivering great value for money wines from some beautiful old vineyards across the Barossa Valley, up through the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills and down into McLaren Vale.  We visited this region during my Australian wine tours in 2019.
