Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé 2019
In addition to the Grénache, the blend has Cinsault, Rolle (or Vermentino), and Syrah. A small proportion of the wine was fermented in oak barrels, adding to the weight and richness of this wine. Gorgeous pale petal pink colour, with intense aromas of fresh redcurrants, lemon and spring flowers. On the palate, it has lovely depth and weight and an intense strawberry and raspberry fruit flavour and long finish with a little nip of salinity.
This has the weight to go with a salmon en croute, and its salinity would make it a great match for feta.
New style rosés have transformed the Provencal landscape. Created by the likes of Château d’Esclans, who we visited on our tours to Provence in 2018, these barely pink wines still pack a fruit punch – wonderfully aromatic, and deliver a weight and texture that is both delicious and more-ish.
