Malbec Viñas de Barrancas 2018
A great value everyday drinking Malbec that has spent three months in three year old French oak. It has lovely intense colour, pronounced aromas of plum, cherry and vanilla, and fresh juicy red fruit on the palate – a spicy medium to full bodied wine.
I would knock this back with a bit of rump steak (and chips), and a slice of Manchego.
The Barancas region is just to the south of Mendoza, the vineyards sit at 700m above sea level, ensuring a large temperature difference between day and night. This slows ripening.
