The Clos Montblanc winery is located in Barbera de la Conca, about 100km south of Barcelona.
This is a fascinating sweet red, made from 100% Garnacha. Late picking allows for a concentration of grape sugars, creating a gorgeously balanced richly sweet style. It’s an absolute bargain.
Aromas of dried figs, prunes and black fruit jam are followed by spicy red fruits on the palate. Well rounded with great balance and a really long finish.
Sweet Grenache is one of the very few wines that go with chocolate. I suggest a chocolate torte with berries and creme fraiche, and cheesewise a Dolcelatte.
