Grüner Veltliner Loimer Kamptal 2019
This is a great example of Austria’s flagship grape variety – fresh apple and herbal aromas and flavours, with bright white pepper. Beautiful balance between weight of fruit and acidity, and a long mineral finish with just a touch of ginger.
The grapes for this wine are grown in vineyards around Langenlois in the Kamp Valley, where cool nights and a long, sunny autumn extend the growing season and ensure perfect ripeness. Fred Loimer studied at Austria’s renowned Klosterneuburg University and made wine in Germany and the Napa Valley before taking over the winery from his father in 1997.
An extremely versatile wine with the weight and complexity to accompany creamy fish or chicken dishes, including a thai curry! But also lovely as an aperitif, especially with some young Pecorino or goat’s cheese.
