Carmenère Reserva Gran Araucaria 2018
This reserve wine has intense deep colour, on the nose there are ripe plums, chocolate and pepper, and on the palate it is very well balanced with ripe berry fruit and spicy oaky notes. A lovely long finish.
I would drink this with a loin of pork, and Feta cheese would go surprisingly well.
Carmenère is a much under-rated grape variety that is becoming well known in Chile. Previously confused with Merlot it has its own style – more vibrant, and with more tannic structure.
