Cabernet Sauvignon Jester Mitolo 2016
In Italian Amarone style, a portion of the grapes were left to dry for seven weeks prior to fermentation. The wine was matured for nine months in used French oak barrels. On the nose classic aromas of menthol, blackcurrant and tobacco leaf, on the palate it is full bodied with ripe dark fruits, dark chocolate, some herbaceous notes and just a hint of raisin. Fabulous texture and length.
This would be terrific with Osso Bucco, and Montgomery Cheddar.
Mitolo have established themselves as a leading player in the McLaren Vale, with a distinctly Italian slant to their winemaking. We had the most fabulous endless lunch in the vineyard during our 2019 Australian tours.
