Barossa Shiraz Amon-Ra Glaetzer Vineyards 2020

Black cherry, dark plums and fragrant spice, this is a full bodied wine with fresh fruit flavours complemented by dried spice and finely balanced supple tannin. A wine that will develop beautifully with long term cellaring over decades.

While it is relatively young then you need big food to complement the full body and tannic attack – maybe a game casserole with venison if you don’t happen to have a kangaroo supplier on hand.  The ripeness of the grapes should give it a decent chance of complementing some mellow blue cheese, eg Cornish Blue not Roquefort!

The Glaetzer family’s boutique winery was founded in 1995 and dedicates itself to the production of super-premium, site-specific red wine made in small volumes. Ben Glaetzer sources all their fruit from the northern sub-region of the Barossa, Ebenezer, which is known for its ancient dry-grown vineyards.

Glaetzer`s most exceptional fruit is sourced from 80-110 year-old, non-grafted bush vines, while in the cellar, Ben believes in minimal intervention and treating musts as gently as possible. The iconic Amon-Ra Shiraz is a particularly balanced and elegant wine, retaining an unmistakably powerful Barossa character.
