Albariño ‘Alba Martin’ 2019
£15.00
Bright yellow straw in colour with elegant aromas of white flower and peach. The palate is full bodied and dominated by ripe tropical fruits and a hint of salinity. The elegant acidity creates a fresh clean finish.
Clearly the right thing for seafood – I particularly enjoy it with pan fried squid or octopus, and a Tou del Tillers soft cow’s cheese a bit like Brie, from Lerida in Spain.
Albariño has become incredibly popular in recent years, and is a wonderful alternative to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. The western coast of Spain and Portugal is where it performs best, and this is a classic example. We have visited the region a number of times on tour, most recently going to Rias Baixas in 2019.
