
This iconic grape variety is grown with huge success around the world and we will find out why, exploring how a crossing of two Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc) has in just a couple of centuries become a flagship of regions as diverse as Coonawarra in South Australia, Maipo in Chile, California’s Napa Valley, Mendoza in Argentina, Stellenbosch in South Africa, Tuscany, the Languedoc and of course Bordeaux itself.
Wines will be supplied in 50ml glass bottles, providing a perfect tasting amount. The bottles have screwcaps so will be in perfect condition for the tasting.
Wines will be decanted and delivered on the morning or day before the tasting to addresses within a radius of 5 miles around Teddington.
Tim Syrad, who has 25 years experience of running wine tastings, runs Teddington Wine Society, which meets at on the final Friday of the month in the Bell Room at the Landmark Centre. Tim is a fervent advocate that wine is to be enjoyed without snobbery. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced taster, there will be plenty to learn and enjoy. Tim also runs the monthly Richmond Wine Society and hosts fine wine tastings and dinners in local restaurants.
