South Africa continues to be one of the most exciting wine growing countries in the world.
Talented winemakers are creating wines of superb quality, and amazing value, from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Perhaps some of the most exciting are grown in long established regions where old vineyards of Chenin Blanc and Semillon, and of course Pinotage, are producing grapes of great quality making wines of concentration and complexity.
In addition to famous names such as Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschoek and Constantia we will also be tasting wines from the cooler coastal region of Breede River and the northerly region of Swartland.
Tim Syrad, who has 25 years experience of running wine tastings, runs Richmond and Teddington Wine Societies, which meet monthly. Tim is a fervent advocate that wine is to be enjoyed without snobbery. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced taster, there will be plenty to learn and enjoy.
