Surbiton Wine Society - Iberia @ The Downstairs Bar, Glenmore House

Two countries, Spain and Portugal, whose histories intertwine with Britain’s, and whose most famous wines were developed to all intents and purposes in London and Bristol. While this history was largely built on fortified wines,   most of tasting will focus on light wines – fresh whites from Galicia and Vinho Verde, smooth reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, the robust red wines of Priorat and of course Cava, a sparkling wine that should be far better appreciated.

We will commence the evening with a welcome drink and taste eight wines – at least one of the wines we taste will retail for more than £50/bottle!

Tim Syrad  has 25 years experience of running wine tastings.  He runs the Richmond and Teddington Wine Societies, and hosts fine wine tastings and dinners in local restaurants. Tim is a fervent advocate that wine is to be enjoyed without snobbery. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced taster, there will be plenty to learn and enjoy.
