I had the pleasure of being taken out to Brula last night in lovely St Margarets. This restaurant has been a stalwart of the local dining scene and has maintained a consisntly high quality reputation. My good friend friend Stefano Bergamin, who owns Bacco in Richmond has recently bought Brula and I’m sure he will bring another dimension in both quality and style.
We had a lovely meal. The chef delivers well defined French classics : scallops with a lobster bisque, rare Onglet steak, perfectly served lamb cutlets, rich beef cheeks and all followed by a classic Tarte Fine aux Pommes and a Mousse au Chocolat.
The wine list is refreshingly eclectic and true to its Southern French style while still happy to explore other regions. We enjoyed a delicious Malbec from Touraine which was a first for me. I look forward to seeing the new developments over the next few months.
